Can't find the damn link anymore but saw an article earlier today that said we have now seen 7 of our goals scored by substitutes, and lead the way in the division for this (if not all four divisions). Impressive stuff, and as much as it's a credit to the management, I also think it's very much down to the graft and pressing of whichever pair of strikers/wingers start the match. Just like yesterday, when the legs start to look weary, and opposition defenders think they've seen out the threat, they're faced with quality replacements who get straight at them. Look at Hammill yesterday, whilst I think he was a bit hit & miss, he tried to get at the full back every time, and gradually got the better of him, culminating in the goal. I'll admit I find it frustrating when things don't come off for Hammill (same with Kent), and wish sometimes he'd play the easy ball, but then remind myself that I've been someone crying out for players who attack the opposition and try to make things happen prior to Hammill re-signing last season. He's up against better defenders, and doesn't have the same number of opportunities to get it right, but when he does............... Reflecting more on yesterday, I just feel (emotional middle aged so and so I've become) that we are really lucky to have a group of players like we have at the moment. Not faultless, not beyond criticism, but we really should savour what we have. It's been a long time since we've had anything like this level of quality and spirit in a squad, as per the other thread about "best team since".
Been terrific to watch them , even when we lose we have a go and compete .Long may it continue on and off the pitch
