This government is useless at communicating. Not only did they release a vague, mixed message about what would happen last weekend, they did so without:

    1) Releasing the plan (that's trickled out over the week)
    2) They didnt consult with Scotland, NIreland or Wales
3)They didn't inform or discuss anything with a single Country Council or Mayor in the UK (possibly withthe eexception of London).

Far from being decisive, this all smacks of him being bumbling, scatty and unclear about what his intentions are. Some local councils are actually telling people to stay at home and ignore Central government's advice on part because R is too high in their areas.

We're getting through this inspite of the government, not because of them.

Like a stick of Blackpool rock, it's got Boris running through all of it. Is he Prime Minister of England?

Pretty sure they didn’t consult the London Mayor. After all he isn’t a right wing Tory

Thats the one - the one who managed to run TFL viably even after the govt removed £700millon in funding but was so incompetent that he couldnt continue to run it when it lost 92% of its passengers and therefore 92% of its revenue due to a government imposed lockdown.
I assume the government is also insisting on taking control of all the major companies that it has also bailed out as a result of the lockdown

That is by no means the prevailing opinion from within TfL. I work very closely with them, I was on the team who put the congestion charge and ULEZ scheme in place and currently working on some ongoing projects including the ULEX scheme.

I'm a third party so not privy to commercially sensitive information but what I do hear is that the current mayor is far from being absolved of blame for their financial crisis. The C19 crisis has exposed problems rather than caused them.

I'm not saying that anybody would have coped better, I don't think that they would have under the same circumstances but there have been issues bubbling under the surface for some time now.

Which councils are those and upon which scientific advice are they acting?
