It really must do if it goes ahead. I think it's a good idea. Will really strengthen both leagues. Still relegation to and promotion from national leagues? Perhaps Ostend won't make the cut.

I read this earlier - will it put the Premier League / SPL merger back on the table?

One of the reasons that was vetoed in the past was that it would impact on the national teams. Will the Dutch / Belgian merger impact on their national sides? If not, I see it as a good move if I am honest.

Would that mean Celtic and Rangers joining the Premier League and it returning to 22 teams? Four relegation spots.

I'm pretty sure that everybody's pushing for it to be changed to 18, if anything - think it was Uefa that doesn't think more than 18 teams is consistent with competitive European competition.

I could see a 36-team Premier League split into two divisions being put on the table before long.

I'd go for that providing they were equal divisions based on geography and the bottom two went down to the Championship and top two went into the Champions League from each division.
