Looks like they furloughed everyone to safeguard te club. I also noticed a statement about points deduction due to not flfilling matches. The outlook is very grim... http://www.doverathletic.com/news/club-statement-11/
They have now been fined £40k for not fulfilling their fixtures, had this seasons results wiped out and a 12 point deduction for next season. Been hung out to dry by the national league. https://www.skysports.com/football/...g-to-fulfil-fixtures-during-covid-19-pandemic
It’s a long story let’s see if I can get everything! chairman declared they were skint last summer, never the less he signed players and had a decent squad on paper, the national league started the season with a national lottery handout, this was meant to cover lost gate receipts. The Dover chairman was on the NL board and he helped award his club £84k a month for 3 months (over £250k) whilst some better supported clubs got £30k a month. He used this money to play 15 games before declaring himself skint again and decided he wasn’t playing any more games unless another grant came along. he then resigned from the NL board when it became apparent the next money was a loan not a grant. all his players are now furloughed at yours and mines expense.... where did the £250k go I wonder.
the NL are a shambles, a complete joke but Dover have been far from hung out to dry. Try some of the smaller clubs who literally live hand to mouth being fined £2000 for games they couldn’t afford to play.
That Chairman sounds a right thieving get. Hope he is the one hung out to dry. It would appear he has personally finished Dover FC.
The Chairman, Jim Parmenter has been personally bankrolling Dover Athletic with his own money for years now. He's also been sponsoring the club via his fresh food export company. If it wasn't for him the club would have folded years ago. He turned down the loan because he couldn't see where the money to pay it back would come from. The last thing he wants is to see Dover go under.
That is true and something I missed above. Since they got to the NL crowds haven’t really matched the spend and something had to give.
