..nothing to do with the result but he didn't fall for any of the Shenangens from Fulham and reffed the game well. Let it flow and non nonsense bookings and was pretty anonymous (always teh sign of a decent ref)
I thought double jeopardy applied to goalkeepers.i.e. Penalty PLUS sending off deemed too severe except for violent play??
I think they changed it the other year, didn't they? It's only an automatic red if the player meant to stop the goal-scoring chance via foul play. If the ref felt the keeper made an honest attempt to claim the ball, but accidentally fouled the player, then it's just a penalty(and I think a yellow card???).
In that case it should have been a Red since he was wrongsided and hauled Brown to the floor before he could tap in
I'd have called it a red, personally, but it's one of those that if our 'keeper did it, then we would be claiming it was "accidental" and just a yellow, but when the other teams 'keeper does it seems like a red card. It's strange how passion can change the way you see an incident(well, it changes the way I see incidents!)
I’m just thankful he gave us the penalty. Most of the refs we have had would have given a foul against brown for being there. Don’t get me wrong it was a penalty but we have had a fair few turned down. Not a red card for me though
