I must say, I'd have credited him with more class than that. They scarcely tested an inexperienced keeper in 90 minutes of football. Hardly dominated us despite the lion's share of possession. We had by far the better chances and he can't even give us the slightest credit.
They pinged the ball about nicely to almost zero effect. They looked pretty, certainly, but we looked like we wanted to win it more. Typical reaction from a defeated manager. Pathetic comments really.
Moore missed two sitters and could have had four! Their 'keeper saved well from Mahoney and other than a couple of long shots that he dealt competently with Walton had next to nowt to do. Sour grapes Dean.
It wasn’t deflected. Also we were so overdue for a lucky goal I’d given up hope. After that we were by far the better side
"Spawny" was about right. Wonderful description. "Toothless" might describe their forward efforts. "Boring" might describe their build up play. "Fragile " might describe their defending. "Lucky" might describe to them how the scoreline panned out, given the chances Moore spurned.
First 10 minutes they were well in control. Our goal was a fluke. However, after that they barely threatened and we should have won at a canter. They had plenty of possession and did precisely zero with it.
I thought he was a decent guy until I read his assessment of the match. They passed the ball around a lot but in all honestly never looked like scoring. To say they were challengeing for the play offs overall I wasn't impressed, we could have had 4 or 5 goals if we'd taken our chances. Still not sure how Moore's header in the first half didn't go in.
From where I was sitting, Moore looks up, sees no-one in the box and tries to catch the keeper out. I think he meant that. Regards Dean Smith, he has done an admirable job and his team try to play football the right way. I put his graceless comments simply down to being gutted that we killed off their playoff hopes. We wanted it more today.
He's got a terrible memory. He's managed to completely forget about the second half when we mullered them from start to finish.
Spawny is a word that should be used and appreciated more. I hope Dean Smith using it is the start of a trend. Would love in the pre game interview for Morias to use it somewhere.
On their official site he says this "I didn’t see that second-half coming and they thoroughly deserved the win." The screenshot posted is selective in only including parts of his interview
I didn't look on their site. That screenshot was the entirety of what was quoted on the sky sports app match report. In that case, fair play.
I didn't mean it to sound like I thought you were being selective, I knew it was whichever site it came from which was
I don’t think Kieffer meant the goal, 100% cross in my opinion. And I remember thinking at half time ‘we’ve been pretty lucky there with getting that goal’ but it’s about time we’ve had some luck, I’m sick of the opposition having it all. But as others have said, we hammered them second half and it could’ve easily been 4 or 5.
There was nobody there to cross to. I'm convinced the thinking was to take a punt. Probably more mindful of the keeper putting it out for a corner or back into play for the rebound, rather than realistic belief he'd score but I'm sure it was a punt goalward
When Moore flicks the ball on there is usually nobody there either, but players sometimes take pot luck.
