So they admit they have spoke to other clubs about using their grounds, but then Dane mentions the hindrance of the growth of the club. Just how does moving Barnsley FC away from Barnsley which will result in far smaller crowds HELP the growth of the club?

Saying all the right things but I'm a little concerned about his lack of attention to detail at times ( the remark about the CFO, the fine the club got for the racist chanting which could have been avoided by knowing and following the correct procedures)

One thing, it's never boring being a Barnsley fan!!

He isn't going to give a number in the press just like that. It's a clever of way of still coming across open and honest, but not having to give the specifics. Personally have no issue with wanting your CFO to be there for the detail - that's why CEO's never present end of year numbers to the city without the CFO standing right their by their side.

When you read the lengthy intro, and if you applied those instances to any other club, I think we'd have a uniformity of opinion that such a club is an absolute basket case.

Bit worrying that a CEO says we're in "good shape", is advocating signings and increased expenditure, but then in the next breath is talking about losses and not even wanting to know!

There’s no crowds - it wouldn’t make a difference to income. That’s why the threat was made, there’s no way it could happen with fans in stadiums.

Maybe, not too sure about the "and I don't even want to know" bit.

    Dane says:

“The fans have shown us a loyalty and appreciation that very few clubs have and we have to repay them."

Just after saying about the ground issues:

"there have been discussions with other clubs and stadium owners about Barnsley and they have called our ownership and have had discussions"

Sorry, but those are two very conflicting statements. You want to show loyalty and appreciation to the fans by repaying them with a move to another ground? I appreciate fans aren't allowed in stadia at this time, but when they are he wants Barnsley fans to travel afar. Doesn't sound right that

I would definitely be wanting a pro rata refund if we are allowed back and then they decided to change the ground we play at. Not that I see either thing happening tbh.

I read that as a throwaway quip, said with tongue firmly in cheek.

Unless away fans are allowed in grounds in significant numbers the issue of fans returning is almost a moot point from a financial perspective.

Barnsley sold a significant number of season tickets (8000ish). The extra, potentially small, pay on the day revenue would be impacted by the extra costs such as stewarding/policing costs should crowds attend games.

Operating under reduced crowds which are less than the season ticket base would potentially be less financially attractive.

I did wonder that, especially given the number of season tickets sold, and potential need to give refunds or partial refunds if supply can't meet demand for season tickets.
