interesting article in Daily Mail by Martin Samuel (best sports journalist) After 40 games in championship bottom five teams were Huddersfield - M'bro - Stoke - Barnsley - Luton. Not one of those relegated justifying the decision NOT to end the season after 40 games and not to promote/relegate by guesswork.
Totally agree, not just because we managed to get out of it but it was never fair sending clubs down based on PPG. Tranmere were extremely hard done by and it's a bit sickening for them that a club like Wycombe got promoted by finishing 8th after 39 games but they are sent down on PPG.
I think relegation will have affected the price of houses in the Charlton area, TEMPERATURES PLUMMET as SNOW HITS Kingston-upon-Hull, and scientists at the DW Stadium are confident there'll be a cure for cancer by October.
What are leagues 1&2 going to do next season, that they couldn't do for the finish of this season? There might be some crowds allowed in in October, but I suspect it will be vastly reduced so the financial issue remains. Certainly for the first few weeks of the season. PPG was a barmy way of deciding things, particularly unweighted. Form counted for nothing, and results at the end of the season are just unpredictable. Who would've thought Brentford would lose to Stoke and Barnsley?
I agree. They haven't avoided the cost of Covid testing they've just postponed it by finishing early.
Yes, I think Rotherham have been extremely lucky. They'd had a good run and were likely to stumble. Meanwhile, others were improving.
Our great escape is THE reason why you need to play 46 football matches (23 teams home and away) to determine a football season (38 games in PL obviously). In fact 2 out the bottom 3 before lockdown survived in the Championship. I can understand why Tranmere are aggrieved. Also the clubs at the top of L1, anyone of the top 10/11 could have got promoted automatically or gone up via the playoffs. We turned around a 7 point swing in 9 matches
