What's the motorbike slowing them down during a race all about?

I’m here watching it. Event is the Kierin. Bike is called the gurney, no idea why. Ramps up to 50kph before leaving the track with 3 laps to go, leaving them to slug it out to the finish. They can’t overtake it.

Not watching it but have seen the Kierin before - its a completely wierd cycle race - no idea why it was invented - by the way the bike is actually called the derny. It gradually increases speed - the riders have to stay behind it and get in position for the sprint at the end

Then they’d play cat & mouse for 2 laps before a short sprint. This means they’re pumped and travelling top whack as the sprint starts. Minor differences between a lot of these events, but it int ‘alf exciting. [IMG]

Shouldn't you be busy pressing some buttons or something? :)

Jeez! It's almost a pity you can't go to commercial break!

I didn't know they had an offside flag in cycling. No wonder he's not pressing any buttons

And a trip to Tesco for the weekly shop I'd imagine. 200 laps. It's a good job they're not doing that balancey thing where they stand still waiting for one another to fall off!

I don’t understand a bloody word of this one, to be honest. It’s team tag cycling.
