I'm no fan of the republic party over in the good ol' USA, but the more I see what is happening over there, I'm starting really to agree about a lot of democrats being soft on crime Enough fentanyl to kill millions of people, released a couple of days later, because they passed a 'risk assessment' This can't be normal these days surely? I can't wrap my head around their love of guns, I understand our cultures are very different, but... Jeeeez. Crazy to me, but I really do think this bail reform they've enacted and seemingly 'soft on crime' is also a very big problem. Read last month a bloke who had a rap sheet half a mile long got released on bail and went on to kill a cop (iirc) not long after, struggling to remember his name though https://news.yahoo.com/drug-traffickers-arrested-california-150-090239369.html?guccounter=1
Agree with you on this particular issue. But soft on crime. Look no further than these shores. (Not advocating the death penalty btw)
Releasing on bail is the norm over there. That's why they have people dedicated to rounding up absconded bailed crims. There is a lot of money made from the bail system, in one way or another.
