Thinks being racist is funny. https://www.mirror.co.uk/3am/celebrity-news/comedians-shows-cancelled-after-racist-24519179
Fortunately his agent has dropped him and lots of venues have cancelled his shows. cue accusations of the woke arts scene cancelling freedom of speech? guess he needs to move into right wing politics if he wants another job
Judging by the level of wit he employs in crafting such hilarious jokes, I think hundreds of people have dodged a bullet there.
The thing is he gets free publicity from this however his racist approach does need to be highlighted and not ignored. He will at some point get another agent and other tour dates no doubt..just hope no one turns up or he gets heckled straight off stage.
I knew he was right wing, but didn't particularly mind him. Then I saw this on Sitcom.co.uk the other day, and just thought you utter lovely person (swear filter changed my words). I think he's probably just jealous that he's stuck at a certain level in his career and hasn't progressed, so it's obviously the BBC's fault - oh, and Channel 4. And Dave. And Comedy Central. And Sky. And Channel 5. And ITV.
to be fair i find very few modern day comics funny and even less american ones of the few i do like one is reg d hunter he did a routine on apollo a few years ago and he used the "n" word a few times ( it was about crisps. . . mmmmm these N are greasey) the audience laughed as it was funny but didnt want to laugh as THAT word was used ( like laughing at someone who trips up, its funny but you know you shouldnt be laughing) anyway at the end he said in his soft georgia (?) lilt, i can us that word 'cos i'm black y'all cant 'cos yous white, smiled nodded his head a few times laughed and left the stage to rapturous applause, thing is, is he racist for using it, are the white people in the audience racist for laughing, are the black people in the audience racist for laughing ?????, all i can say is he made me laugh........... so am i racist ?. p.s. i used to p155 myself watching ricky gervais in derek, am i going to hell ?
If you have to ask if a black person is racist for using that word then I’m unsure how to respond mate. I kinda think that black people own the right to use it how they see fit.
to be honest i dont know if i agree with you or not, its a very complex area, surely the words offensive or its not, if rdh can use it because of the the colour of his skin and andy parsons ( another comic i like) cant because of the colour of his skin then surely thats got to be racist ????. i just dont understand where the modern world is going, surely its got to be to intent, is using the word done to cause offense and hurt, absolute minefield. i must also add i'm not defending the lawrence guy because having seen him he's about as funny as a lorrydriver with piles
I think certain sections of black Americans (mainly the young ones) decided to reclaim.the word. So obviously not racist if they use it but absolutely no need for anyone else to .
It just blows my mind that people are still doing this. Regardless of the racist agenda, the sheer stupidity of a comedian thinking there won't be consequences is unreal. It's like they live on a different planet.
Neither did I. It was perhaps a little flippant. I was referring to "reclaiming the word". Just tickled me a bit. Apologies.
thats the whole point, a section of society can/cant do something purely based on their skin colour where's the equality in that ?
