Thought he was a disgrace yesterday. Been on 15 mins and hed given up running, chasing and tracking his men while all other around him were burying themselves. Was like having a jogger on the pitch. Bassi should not have come off either. Totally unbalanced the team.
When he signed, every other post about him was about how many minutes he’d played this season. Doesn’t get mentioned as much now. No real problem with him going off when we’re two up after 70 minutes. It wasn’t discussed much after the Hull game. If he breaks down with an injury then our season is pretty much over.
Never understood why we signed him when we did, the timing was odd and I was totally non-pluses given how poor he was before. He has not improved one iota
A bit strong, but agree that he didn't seem to be putting much intensity into his role. I'm not sure he's actually got that in his locker. But changes needed making - there were at least four players absolutely towing after 70 minutes. What this highlights is how paper-thin that squad is. Love this current starting XI - and I hope the week off means they're fit & firing for Derby - but as I said to someone yesterday, where do you go from there if a change is needed? The real shame is that I think a fit Cauley Woodrow would have revelled in this set-up. Bassi & Quina sliding balls through for him to run into? Yes please!!
Re Cole. He ended up chasing players down like a headless chicken. But and a big but, the midfield had dropped deep, unlike the first half where everyone was chasing defenders down. Which in the Cole period didnt happen, (the substitutions contributed) it made it far easier for borough to pass it around at the back. He had no back up. Running from one side of the pitch to the other. Only once did I see him totally give up the chase, When it was obvious he wasn't going to make a difference.
Agree on your point re players towing. See my post above. We went from an all out attacking side. And the introduction of subs made us soak up the pressure. I thought Bassi had still plenty of running in him. 2 players up front would have made it more difficult to play out from the back.
He's a strange one. In some games he runs his blood to water, commits to everything and really puts a shift in. Then he's hauled off and dropped for weeks on end. In other games he wanders around without a care in the world and will probably get another shot next week
Bit harsh on Cole I'd say. He was the lone striker left up while everyone else got behind the ball. He didn't pull up any trees but I wouldn't describe him as a disgrace. As an outlet you'd want him in space, not tracking players.
Both Bassi and Morris were blowing. Both looked absolutely shattered. I said the same about Morris in midweek, as by the end, he physically couldn't chase down the Hull players any more. I was surprised he stayed on until the end midweek. Cole was the only real option from the bench to replace Morris. I think it's unfair to say he wasn't chasing the defenders down, because he was. The midfield had dropped so deep however, he was effectively chasing a lost cause. The one time he did have the ball at his feet, he showed a good turn of pace to accelerate from half way, and head for the corner. Had it been for a better final ball, he might have even assisted Quina to put us 4-1 up. He's certainly not without his faults is Cole, but I think given the situation of the game yesterday when he was introduced, he did very little wrong.
Arguably the worst signing of the Summer for me by the club, I know other will point to Obi, but the club knew exactly what Cole was about so there should have been no surprises.
