    Very true reference the stendel season defence was solid. Having pinnock the main reasons. Although we didn't win the title.

    The wanting of a clean sheet implies the avoidance of a soiled sheet.

    Is there a particular substance of sheet soiling that this saying alludes to?

    Well we played with a back 4 but pinnock was the stand out player and has played in the premier league the majority of the time since. Hth

    I think you’re missing my point mate

    we played 4 at the back but really it was 2 - the full backs especially Cavare was pushed so far up the pitch it was crazy

    re Pinnock …if you search back there’s a post from me around that time when he was breaking through saying he would play for England …not quite right but close

    It was a great season I think cavare got a great amount of assists. Attack is sometimes the best form of defence if you have the tools for it and we did. But even when kieffer moore was injured and we weren't scoring as frequently the defence was strong. Pinnock was a class act could tell he was far too good for league one.

    Look at Arsenal under George Graham, with Adams and Keown and Dixon at the back lol.
    Why should they want to win the League Title ehh with some 4 or 5 goal thrashings.
    When a good old fashioned simple 1-0 will do. :rolleyes:
