I knew as soon as he shanked that out for a corner it would cost us. Put it out for a throw steadily, give it to walton. No pressure, easy. Oh no, he has to try and boot the hell out of it and miskick it for a corner.
Yes. Soft when the ball comes over as well, no hunger to win the ball, unlike their lad. And Murray has to take some blame too - it is his call to not put a man on the post. Poor, plain poor and having just taken the lead too.
Im not sure Anderson has progressed well enough. Another mistake today. No composure. Odd mistake we live with but so so common. I watched a spell midweek where Stoke were on top and he had 3 attempts to take control of ball or take pressure off in succession. Gave it up each time and they were on top for a concerted 10 mins from it.
IMO a corner is a corner and should be defended professionally, how the corner was conceded is irrelevant. At that time in the half there was no need to keep any players upfield for the out ball and that should have allowed us to have a spare man to mark a post. Niaive .
No way will Millwall be has bad second half we are just unable to do the basics consistently well at this level and it’s so friggin frustrating.
What was frustrating for me was that of the 3 Barnsley players ‘challenging’ not one of them leaves the floor. we’d done well up to then too, no danger and have been better side. This games still there for the taking.
A chain of errors. Poor clearance. Poor defending for corner. We are back to having to score 2-3 goals a game to get any points
I’ve noticed much more long ball clearances from the back and the keeper. I think we’ve won two of them up to now.
