Whilst I think Winkler was a loss and he was undoubtedly invaluable to Daniel early in the season whilst his English was evolving, it seems to me that Stern has really come to the fore now and is one of the brightest young coaches around. Think I'm also right in saying CS had a big part in our fitness work pre-season and for a team to be like we were today 40 odd games into a season, down to 10 men for over an hour and yet still relentlessly running the opposition's full team into the ground, is a great testimony. DS brilliant also again today.
DS is in almost constant discussion with him when making changes, comes across really well and you can see the players like and listen to him. Not bad to have your licences and three or four years coaching experience at the tender age of 26.
Pointless fact of the day, he used to park outside my house every morning to drop his kid off at school. Left hand drive skoda. Germans know their cars.
The fitness our players are now showing is unbelievable, the way we broke for the 3rd goal in the 93 minute after playing three quarters of the game with 10 men was amazing to see
I'd guess that apart from the extra brass he's recieved , from a professional job satisfaction standpoint, deep down, Winkler might well regret leaving the Reds to join Huddersfield Town. Even though they will be cash rich due to the parachute payments they will recieve, hopefully we will be playing them in the Championship next season.
