https://ilkestontownfc.co.uk/chris-ogrady-signs-for-the-robins/ The cheek of them not to mention his time with us when we were a career highlight for him.
I don't miss O'Grady at all. All he did was back into defenders and stick his arse out. Had the turning circle of an articulated lorry.
I liked O’Grady. He was strong, a handful, great at holding it up and scored a decent amount of goals at championship level.
I can't agree with this. He had a decent scoring record for us, always grafted and he had that great weird turn move that I've never seen anyone else do. I could never wrap my head around what he actually did, and it used to baffle defenders.
I loved that move! Me and my brother used to call it the “O’Grady turn”. I think it was roll the ball under the foot and then flick it the opposite way. You’re right though, it used to send the defenders the other way.
For the record I thought he was great while he was with us. Brought a lot to the table for me. Grafter, consummate pro and was a catalyst for us getting out of bother.
Spent half his time with us out on the left wing. Tom Kennedy would have a 0% pass completion rate if it wasn’t for COG
That floaty ball down the channel for O'Grady to do a couple of squats before he got the ball and laid it off. I still get cold sweats at night thinking about it! It was pretty much our single progressive move, probably because it worked because of O'Grady's freakish strength.
