Anyone know out about this? If so can anyone recommend someone too, looking at getting my car mapped so after some trustworthy advice
Dont go for a cheap option. It could ruin the timing of the engine and kill your car. A cheap remap will cost you a fortune in the long run. Darkside are brilliant. Would highly recommend them, but are more pricey than alot of places.
Don't go to a generic mapper, go to someone who specifically uses a company that produces model specific maps. Check online forums for your car for recommendations.
M-Tec in Wombwell is the best around by far. Most people pretending to be mappers send them to him. https://www.facebook.com/M-tec-oe-power-917604518281453/
This guy has been mentioned to me twice so seems to have a good reputation, been trying to ring him last few days but seems a hard chap to get Intouch with
He’s a mate of mine, Mark Wilkinson. He’s a busy lad, does loads of work for insurance companies as in investigator for motor offences. Keep trying mate. If you do get through tell him Winnie sent you.
No one in the country can come close to Darkside, that’s just fact. Always get a custom map and not just a generic map.
As a togak layman in the car game, is mapping legal? I’ve had the car about 5 months and I paid for an extra 2 years of warranty, would it potentially void the warranty and could I void my insurance too if I’m modifying the spec of the car?
It will void your warranty and your insurance if you don’t inform your insurance company. It is entirely legal. I have worked in the insurance and warranty field in my past in Senior Management.
Yes although it depends on what level you want to map to and why. Some Maps will increase HP significantly and give better fuel economy. Some maps will just give you better economy with lower HP boost etc. To be honest though Mapping is now so professional theres no way anyone can find out it’s done.
I can guarantee that’s not true. Knowing both businesses well. I’m going to leave it there as I know both teams. I mean they are both excellent btw.
