Thinking about resilience for when personnel - player or management - changes, is our vertical football being embraced throughout our playing and management squads/teams? If Val were to go tomorrow, could Murray step in as caretaker and maintain our current approach - or does it disappear with VI?
It would carry on in the same vein until a new head coach is appointed with his own take on the strategy. Stendel, Struber and Val have all had to implement the style desired by the club. However, they have all used their own interpretations.
Don't think the style of play disappears, but it's way more than that, it's management and charisma. Val looks at you and commands respect. As for players, they do what he asks (and they all get a chance) or they get shipped out.
The being shipped out is as much to do with the board as it is Head Coaches. If the board were penny pinchers they'd try and eek out what they could and try and use inferior players with bad attitudes. This lot back the head coach and are happy to take the odd loss or pay the odd player off.
We seem intent on "high press". Hopefully the next high press head coach plays more football than the current incumbent.
