Shocking news Ian haggis is an English dish. https://www.google.co.uk/amp/s/amp.theguardian.com/uk/2009/aug/03/haggis-scottish-english
Haha no like the English to plunder and steal what is not their own. Done it for years. And Helen haggis is wonderful especially if bought from a butcher’s rather than the mass produced rubbish sold in supermarkets.
Used to have a burns night every year in the mess ( army) they piped in the haggis then my very good celtic supporting mate used to stab it, when I first experienced this I was like WTF as just happened, always a good night, apparently he was a poet, other than that I have absolutely no idea what, when , who lol
He was a poet and also a bit of a shagger. But more importantly he was a drunk. So quite a normal guy.
Controversy that he was more of an editor than a poet, nicking parts of old songs . Auld lang syne being one of those that apparently he plagarised. And this one https://www.poetryfoundation.org/poems/43812/a-red-red-rose
I like haggis, good to know it’s an English dish. I should have known. what I miss most though is savoury duck, not seen that for ages. Tips for butchers selling a good savoury duck appreciated. Used to get ours from wagstaff’s in Swinton. He’s retired now and took his recipe with him ( I did ask)
I’ve never understood the fascination of Burns. All this burns supper nonsense. It’s only an excuse to have a good tea and and a piss up which I can do any day of the week not just on January 25.
I look at it like black pudding nice fried but otherwise.....mehh btw talking of plundering have you lot finished with our goalposts yet?
