Nope looked at it it’s not very high but something I didn’t fancy trying going up. Foxes tarn is a nice pedestrian route
One of my favourite routes is up the famous Lord's Rake from Mickledore, then the terrifying West Wall Traverse to the summit. Then down your route to the tarn, then back up to Mickledore. A huge amount of work just to end up exactly where you started
Did this on my 50th. After the squeeze there is a small wall, it’s ‘sat’ on a down sloping slab which is where the problems lie, if you fall / slip on the wall a slide may result and that would not be fun. The wall is smallest on the right, jam in a strong bent arm and pull, I chose this way but it’s safer (harder?) on the left - Mrs Red-Ken chose this one. After the wall all is fine. Don’t do when wet and there’s no harm in backing out and going via foxes. Odd one broad stand it’s not scary as in exposure more technical, can you climb none gripy rock? Enjoy safely
Wow, impressive. I've never tried it, I'm a walker/scrambler, not a climber. I've stood at the bottom looking for routes many times, and to be honest it looks impossible to my uneducated eyes. Well done, but I'll stick to the Rake or Foxes next time. If there is a next time. Update @RedKen-dal: Having done a bit of research, it seems it's classed as a difficult scramble rather than a climb. I've done Sharp Edge, Striding Edge, Swirral Edge, Crib Goch, Jack's Rake, Lord's Rake (many times) and Wildboar Clough (Peak District) with no problems whatsoever. Do you think I could tackle it, and should I use a guide?
Go have a nosey! The crux (wall) is at the bottom, literally just after fat man’s squeeze. You lose nothing having a look (and a feel). The advantage of using a guide is they will set up a rope, nice and safe . Many (all?) of the scrambles you mention are far more exposed and nerve jangling. This is a vertical small wall (slightly overhanging ?) so as I say it’s more technical / physical than your normal scramble. Go have a look backing out is easy. Do not fall off, unlike some massive clubs we don’t have fans to spare
