Absolutely talentless, dreadful drivel. & I’m old enough to be her Dad. Bob Marley docs on free view. He was no angel, either. But good at music.
"When I worra lad, that WAS music. None of this screeching and caterwauling! Kids today know nowt!" Repeated in practically every home, year after year, decade, after decade. The self righteous condescension is still alive and well!
Let's be honest since the start of pop idols, x factor and all similar shows music has gone down hill fast. Also how can acts that don't play instruments be classed as a band. At best call them groups.
A major influence on my life was my Mam & Dads singles collection. Hundreds of them. Maybe ‘1955-75. Tunes they had bought, shared & enjoyed together. Mostly before the adopted us kids. Tells such a story. About 7 years old I had crippling appendicitis & was off school for whole of spring term into summer holidays. There was nothing anyone could do for me & I just had to take the pain, sitting on my Mam’s back doorstep, most of the time holding my tummy. I played every single record & b sides, alone on an old Dansette. A beautiful bit of kit & am constantly trying to source an affordable, exact unit. Scarlet & cream. Earlier I tried looking through the valve vent in the back, expecting to see a band, like telly. I’d seen Hard Days Night & Help on telly, also the Monkees tv shows. Took me years to tell them apart. Dozy, but precious.? My Dad died in 2006. Audrey had a clear out. Devastatingly, the suitcase full of records. All big sellers, so worth nowt, except to me. My collection of Matchbox Superfast Lesney cars went to charity shop too. She didn’t think I was bothered. MOTHER.?! At least my traction engine survived..
I believe in equality of opportunity not equality of outcome. Everyone should have the same chance and be successful on their merits. I think that just like most areas of life music has suffered from conscious and unconscious sexism and racism. However I have to say looking at some of the “acts” and winner on show tonight it’s clear that many of them are there to tick quota boxes and not through their talent.
Not so bad, yourself. Tell you what, old pal. Gravy chips has made me less shy about talking about my curious life. Let’s all be honest? Doh! Maria is common knowledge with closer football mates, but still woke up, hungover with doubt. & edited my posts.!! Might pm you about that story. Anyway, come on Barnsley.
If you haven’t read it already, you might enjoy a book by Alan Johnson, the former labour mp. It’s all about his love of music and runs through his life with the backdrop of his musical tastes. Really nice read and might have some crossover with some of your earlier musical memories.
You know you're a huge favourite in the Big Lil family and rightly so. Also, the photo of you wearing your Mum's pink blouse has had more outings now than my pink wrestling leotard! Gravy Chips has made a huge impact with her post and for all the right reasons.
No. That blouse only gigged once in London. Those people notice these things?!! European tours were different. Small bus. 1 bag of clothes/3 guitars. 2bags/2 guitars. 3bags of clothes/ you’re out of the band. Low budget, it don’t cost much to be handsome & good.
At least twice. Gimme a break man. I don’t take photos of myself playing guitars. When I was playing with Kusworth, there were loads of video cameras pointing at us. I got to see very little. Little Keith, sent me this recently..
