    He did for a long time and was a real bruiser. Then he was converted to centre half….and was even more of a bruiser!

    Interestingly Burns started off as a centre half and played his first 2 or 3 seasons for Birmingham there before they converted him to centre forward after they lost Bob Latchford in 1974. Cloughie converted him back to a centre half.

    Inspired by Cloughie to put Burns as a centre half. Before then he was the wild man of the Birmingham forward line. It was the time of fearsome attackers who got retaliation in first.
