The Reds are back at Oakwell this Saturday as we prepare to entertain Bolton Wanderers in a Sky Bet League One clash.


Conor Hourihane’s side will be looking to get back to winning ways after a tricky spell over the previous few weeks.

In the opposite dugout will be Steven Schumacher, the Liverpool-born manager has previous experience of gaining promotion out of Sky Bet League One with Plymouth Argyle, and he will no doubt be aiming to emulate this once again with Bolton Wanderers.







Schumacher’s Argyle side amounted an impressive 101 points during the 2022/23 promotion-winning season, it was also a pleasing personal season for Schumacher as he picked up the League One Manager of the Year. Since taking charge of the Trotters, Bolton have picked up 7 wins in 14 games with the most notable result being an impressive 3-1 home win against the table toppers Birmingham City.

The reverse fixture earlier this season saw the Reds pick up a brilliant 2-1 Boxing Day away win. Klaidi Lolos put Bolton ahead in the 26th minute with a powerful strike. The game seemed to be fizzling out for a home side win, until the 80th minute when a tidy Reds move resulted in a high-class finish from Davis Keillor-Dunn to level the scores. Nine minutes later, the Reds pressure paid off as quick thinking from a Nwakali freekick resulted in a Corey O’Keefe cutback which was expertly finished by Adam Phillips.

Davis Keillor-Dunn has been the standout performer for the Reds this season and will be hoping to add to his impressive tally of 15 goals in the league, with 3 goal contributions in his last three outings.



In terms of our opponents, Aaron Collins and John McAtee lead the goalscoring statistics for the Trotters, both scoring 11 so far this campaign. John McAtee is still able to record his best personal goalscoring season, the forward man needs 6 more goals to trump his best ever previous season, which came in the 2021/22 promotion winning season with Grimsby Town.

The Wanderers have become familiar opponents for the Reds, with both sides facing each other 5 times in just over a year, in this time, the Reds have won 2, drawn 2 and lost just one. Overall, the two sides have met 19 times, with the Reds recording 5 wins, the Trotters recording 6 and there have been 8 draws.

Josh Benson is now back with the squad and has returned to training after a short spell on the sidelines due to injury. Josh Earl and Barry Cotter have also progressed well in training this week.
