Maël de Gevigney previewed the Reds' clash against Cambridge at Oakwell this Saturday for the media.
On Getting Back Involved After His Suspension

Yes, it was good, good to be back, not the best result, but I missed playing with the lads, and I'm happy to be back.

    On Frustrations Of Suspension

Yes, exactly. Not long after my ankle injury I then had the red card, I've not been very used to staying on the sidelines during the last few years, but it's a good lesson for me. I have to control myself to avoid this kind of stuff happening in the future and to help the team through the season.

On Disappointment Of Inconsistencies Within The Backline

We have had a lot of different injuries especially in the back three. We haven't played a lot together, but it shouldn't be an excuse, we’ve got good players with Conor (McCarthy) and Donovan (Pines) and even Connor Barratt when he came on, so we just have to keep playing with it. We all know each other, we know the way we have to play, and we have to do better on the pitch, whoever’s playing, but obviously we haven't played enough with the the players mentioned, but hopefully it's going to alright for the end of the season.

On Support Given To Connor Barratt

Yes, exactly, he's been training with us since the beginning of the season, so we know that he's a really good player. He's pretty confident, he's always doing his best, so he has had his chances and it’s good for him, he did what he had to do, so I'm happy about it, and I'm trying to help him as much as I can.

On Successes Of The Academy this season With Barratt And Flavell

Yes, it's a good time for the for the Academy, maybe not so much for the first team, because we have had too many injuries but it’s good for the Academy. It shows that they're working well, Kieran (Flavell) played very well when he came on. I think it was really hard for him, coming on in a game like that, but he did a really good job, and I hope he's going to do the same during the next game.

    On The Previous Week

Conor made it really clear what he's asking us to do, to raise the standards, we’ve got precise demands for each player and each position, and we know what we have to do. We only had two days to work on it before the Mansfield game, but it was two great days. Unfortunately, it wasn't good enough on the Saturday, but we keep working on these demands. We're watching a lot of videos, we’re working on the pitch and trying to reach his demands, so we're working hard, it's been really good since he's become Head Coach.

On Conor Hourihane’s Changing Roles Throughout The Season

Yes, I think it's especially weird for him, because he was a player six months ago, but for us, he was a part of the of the staff, so there's this respect between him and us, especially because he was close to us as a player before, so I think it's a really good relationship, because he knowshow to talk with us. He knows how we are in the group from the inside,so I think it's a really good thing that he is the Head Coach now, and I'm happy for him, he deserves it.

On Positives Of Conor Hourihane Being A Young Coach And Familiar With The Club

Yes, exactly he knows what the club's needs, he knows what the fans want, he knows everything about the club, and he knows a lot about football too. He had a really great career as a player, even though he's young, he’s got a lot of positives as coach too and I wish him the best.

    On Chance Of Playoffs

We're not really talking about it, to be fair, we're just working on focusing on every game, the next game is Cambridge. We're just talking about Cambridge, how we’re going to win this game, how we're going to progress, and play better, how we’re going to play with more intensity. So yeah, that's not really something that we're talking about. It's more taking game after game, and if we're winning every game, obviously we're going to be in a good position for the playoffs.

On Hopes To Give Fans A Performance After Disappointing Results

Yes, obviously they came in their numbers at Mansfield, a big crowd. They helped us during the game, they did everything they could to help us. Obviously we had to do better on the pitch to show them that we're fighting for the club, fighting for them, and we're going to give everything on Saturday to make them happy.

    On Importance During Final Fixtures

Like I said, we're taking it game after game, I'm not really focused on what's going to happen in ten games, what's going to happen next year. We just want to progress because we all know that it wasn't good enough. Almost all season, the standards have not been good enough. The way we’ve played has not been good enough when you're looking at the quality of the squad. So we’re just focused on this, trying to get better game after game, and we'll see what happens in the future.

    On Becoming Settled In Barnsley

Yes, I’m feeling good, I'm enjoying playing in England, I'm enjoying playing for Barnsley. I feel confident, I know everyone trusts me, so I feel good, I just want to play and get minutes and do my best for the club.
