Caylan Vickers has been named the August Player of the Month, in association with Vets for Pets. The young winger netted twice for the Reds in August and put in several impressive performances across the month. Vickers’ relentless pressing, coupled with his unpredictable dribbling style, has caught the eye of the Reds faithful and has quickly made the tricky winger a fan favourite here at Oakwell. Vickers’ first competitive goal in a Barnsley shirt came in the 3-2 home win against Burton Albion, as his goal started the thrilling comeback that gave the Reds all three points. Adam Phillips spotted Vickers in space inside the box before cutting the ball back into his path, and the winger produced a cultured, sweeping finish with his right foot that arrowed into the top left corner. His second goal proved to be the decisive one in a tight 1-0 win on the road against Peterborough United. It was trademark play by Vickers, who was given the ball by Watson on the touchline before somehow evading the challenges of two Posh players, cutting inside onto his left and trying his luck from range. The strike took a slight deflection that left the Peterborough goalkeeper with no chance. Everyone at the club congratulates Caylan for his performances this month and picking up this award!
