Reds fans have voted Adam Phillips as the August Goal of the Month award winner, proudly sponsored by Vets for Pets. The talismanic midfielder claims the first Goal of the Month award of the season for his stunning strike away at Plymouth Argyle, on the opening day of the 25/25 Sky Bet League One campaign. Phillips doubled the Reds’ advantage on the day with a sweet strike on the half-hour mark, less than twenty minutes after Brendan Sarpong-Wiredu turned the ball into his own net, to give the away side a comfortable lead going into half-time. A long ball into the Argyle box caused real confusion for the home side; they eventually managed to clear their lines, but only into the path of Adam Phillips, who delivered a stunning volley from twenty yards that arrowed straight into the bottom corner without even grazing the surface. "I was just waiting for it to sit," said Phillips when describing his goal. "I struck it nicely and the 'keeper doesn't move, so I think it makes it look even better." The home side looked to mount a comeback after Caleb Watts halved the Reds’ lead in the fiftieth minute, but the three points were wrapped up for the away side as Davis Keillor-Dunn struck his first of the season in the dying embers of proceedings.
