Here's a few ideas: - Ben Williams, this season, can't remember who against Bobby Hassell, against Wednesday at the Sty John Stones, in front of the Ponty just before he left Any more?
I thought Ben's was this season, or was it both? Personally I think Lord Bobinho's was the best I've seen as it effectively won us that game.
Didn't we get away with one against Sunderland in our relegation season too? When we bet them up there?
I remember that. Was stood behind it. My 12 year old brain managed to convince myself that the ref had got it wrong and we'd been hard done by.
McCourt against QPR. In a drunken stupor, Paddy found himself having a pittle against Steele's right hand post. When all of a sudden Rangers broke away and had Steele rushing off his line, in pained surprise, as their striker placed the ball neatly in the corner... but for McCourt to deflect the ball away with his heel! As he shook out the last of his prematch pint.
Definitely the kid Williams, in the game away at Warsaw Fc last season. Wow, what a win that was eh. A stoppage time winner for us, especially when we knew we'd been lucky etc.
I hate to be a pendant, but that's not really what I meant.....fantastic save though! And that celebration afterwards, where he went ballistic, until he realised they were about to take the resulting corner
I know it wasn't what you meant but it was the best penalty save I have ever seen live . To answer your question , Ben Williams at Walsall .
Handyside did a particularly remarkable one. Flying overhead kick sort of thing. Can't remember who against like as, let's face it, who wants to remember those times.
I've just wrote something regarding handyside on the other thread. Good God they were grim times them. I always remember bobby hassell v Newcastle. He just scored from a corner and not 2 minutes later he stopped Barton (I think?). I'm still not sure how he managed to do what he did, but whatever he did it was incredible.
Just read it. Odd, I can't imagine Peter Handyside has entered either of our minds in the last 10 years.
I'm surprised nobody seems to remember the John Stones one. I can't remember who it was against. Their bloke left our keeper on his arse, and was facing a completely clear and empty goal with the ball bouncing invitingly in front of him. Meanwhile, John Stones was frantically trying to get across to cover on the goal line. The striker took aim, calculated the required trajectory, allowed for the wind, and hit it. John took off from one leg, like the spectacular famous ballet entry scene at the end of Billy Elliot, and the ball hit him in his midriff right on the line. Some claimed it was handball, but the ref disagreed. A fine block indeed.
