UK will not import chlorinated chicken from US, ministers say http://www.theguardian.com/world/20...-chlorinated-chicken-from-us-ministers-brexit We'll see
I’d feel Happier if they were guaranteeing cheap chrlorinated chicken. Since almost every promise the make they don’t keep
They've lied about everything else so just chalk this up as another one. As usual, no-one will be held to account and if its anyones fault, it will be someone else's.
https://www.theguardian.com/politic...ds-fears-to-rest-trade-agriculture-commission So it still isn't a guarantee. Just don't buy it and then shops will stop selling it as it won't make them money.
How will you know what's in the pie you buy in the pub, from Greggs, or even M&S? It's easy to choose the quality of meat whilst I'm at the meat counter, it's not so easy when its on my frozen pizza.
Ha. We'll buy whatever they want to sell. The economic forces that made the British Empire so powerful in the past still exist - we're just on the other side of them.
Lot of bluster over nothing.. You do realise that you would still have a choice in where and what type of product you buy. It's all supply and demand in the end, if people don't eat it, we won't import much. Doesn't bother me either way. It is easy if you want to spend a bit more on produce to get what you want ie farm to fork etc. You can go down to the farm shop and buy fresh lettuce etc or you can go to the supermarket and buy perfectly acceptable in the UK and EU, the bleached crap that they sell. There is loads of crap quality food that you can go buy but again the choice is there nothing wrong with that if people think for themselves.
They've lied about everything else so far, so don't believe their lies. If they said the shy was blue, I'd go outside to check.
I was merely sharing a news item. I do think however that some people would find it very hard to 'spend a bit more' as you suggest and in other cases they aren't able to go down to a farm shop - its not practical for some.
This is a very middle class and totally ignorant view of food shopping. Lower income families bulk buying in Iceland* don’t have the simple option of choosing to buy their chicken pies at the deli counter in their local farm shop. As I posted above though; do you never eat out? How can you be confidant of the provenance of the chicken at your nice local curry house? or your pub lunch, chicken salad picked up at motorway services on your way to a meeting? Or your kids school meals, all of which are produced on tight margins where shaving 10% off the price of the chicken will be a serious consideration. *fortunately Iceland along with Lidl and Aldi have already promised not to sell chlorinated chicken. No such promise from Brake Bros et al though
