Just looked at the election results and in both barnsley seats, if one or the other of the torys or brexit parties had stood down Labour could have lost.

Aye and if we could defend we'd be mid-table.

That's what makes me laugh when people say this squad isn't good enough for League 1. They've played some cracking football this season only to undo it themselves.

As spectacles every game barring Preston and Sheffield Wednesday away have been a cracking end to end watch.

That's the thing. We've got 6 or 7 good championship quality players but in key areas we just thought 'fc.uk it' and signed untried kids.

It's no coincidence that our strongest areas are where we added to existing squad members and our weakest are where we replaced them.

I would also describe the game against Carlisle as a 'spectacle' but possibly not quite in the same way as yourself.

You have struck on something though. I wonder if we gave some of our defenders spectacles, it might help?

League One is poor. Even Bambo could defend in that division.

Labour lost first and foremost because Corbyn was not perceived to be a suitable national leader. Notwithstanding that, Brexit was a huge issue. Come 31 January that issue will be gone. We will be out, and although sensible folk know there is much more to be determined, the public at large will be content that we are out of the EU and will think that is that. The Brexit party (not really a 'party' in any true sense) will be irrelevant going forward, and people will probably revert to their customary tribal loyalties. But another person in charge of Labour as far removed from the centre ground as Corbyn would present further problems for them in recovering their traditional share of the vote.

Now not labour? When I looked Labour had won both Central & East with Stocksbridge & Penistone going to the Tories. All hypothetical whether if any stood down the other would have won. It's a first past the post system and Labour were first past the post in 2 of the 3 seats contested.

Hate it when football threads turn political.
