Except it's been an abject failure.

Only the weak minded would think it is anything other than a total sham and a national disgrace. Until they stop blaming badgers and tackle bTB properly, cattle will continue to die before their time.

Most of the evidence I've read suggests that Badger culling is futile so I can't see why anybody would want to support extending it.

Same here, seems strange when its seemingly been proven to not work the government would extend it, the farmers seem happy however which is unusual !!

Because farmers tend to be rich landowners (who pretend to be so poor and hard done to) and the Tory government will do anything to keep them onside

Farmers are happy because it shifts responsibility for BTB from them to innocent wild creatures, saving them from having to pay to take proper measures to stop it.

And as soon as this foul government gives the nod they'll be back out there tearing foxes to pieces too.

    Scum.

I don't think any reasonable person could support it, unless they were trying to provoke an argument....

I'll be fundraising like a basturd, to sab the cull as usual. And as in the last two years, driving very fast around the Glos countryside in the middle of the night, standing in front of guns. If anyone wants a job, you'd be very welcome.

Beyond reason. A non science based idea proves , as is expected to be a complete failure, so they extend it. Weird city.

Hopefully they'll extend it to include the people that support it and start culling them.

Actually the science is rather complex.

If you cull badgers there does indeed seem to be a reduction in TB in cattle. (still cattle are easier to spot and kill and the reverse cull is much more effective).

However, in the area adjacent to the badger cull animals move in to occupy the empty badger territories. This increased badger movement increases the rate of TB in cattle.

The larger your area of badger cull, the more benefit you get and the less edge effect.

Conclusion large culls are better than small ones. Except of course large culls are very difficult to carry out, and if the cull is not effective, you cause more problems.

Unfortunately not just badgers carry TB. So do earth worms, hedgehogs, deer ......

Conclusion - kill all of them. I am off to start cutting worms in half right now.... Oh wait a minute
