From the Chronicle….”in 2018” there were 440 asylum seekers “placed” in Barnsley. How many since?

    440 out of 245k? 0.18% of the population - it's an invasion ! ( edited - bad maths sorry!)

“The first non-British-registered foreign player to become top scorer in England.”

“He emigrated with his family to Brampton, Yorkshire in 1932, at the age of five, due to the instability in Chile at the time.”

Since then, probably still less than 1% of Barnsley's population. If we're going to go and destabilise entire regions of the world in the name of oil and capitalism, unfortunately the local residents of said areas might not want to live there anymore.

Nothing unless there's a clear point to be made. Perhaps the OP can clarify the thinking or point on this....

School I used to teach in we had 26 different languages spoken - one child saw his teacher executed in front of him - we also had many who had escaped from war torn countries. Proud that Liverpool has always seemed to welcome immigrants/ asylum seekers.

Silly me, I opened this thread fully expecting it to be about how frightening being persecuted and having to flee to another country for protection must be.
