Here's some classic Brian Clough. Love him or hate him, he makes Mouriniho look like a spoilt kid. Proper attitude.
Only really remember his great Forest teams of the late 70's early 80's but what great teams they were - only team to really match Liverpool during their dominant period
True, they were although Ipswich under the late, great Sir Bobby Robson briefly came close. They were also an entertaining team to watch.
Never rated John Motson anyway. Only bit of decent reporting he did was off air during the Hillsborough enquiry .
They were the best team in the country for a couple of years which is no mean feat when you consider how good and how dominant Liverpool were at the time.
There's another long interview between him and Brian Moore via this link. A real insight into him, and his flaws. You can only imagine what he, Shankly, Paisley at al would make of the modern game and modern player, agents and so on. And a hell of a striker from what I've read.
Made his debut against us in 1955. https://www.gazettelive.co.uk/sport...onthisboroday-1955-brian-clough-makes-7781905
Only watched the first 4 minutes of this & I'm in tears of joy & despair. Feeling like this guy is just like me. Gonna watch the rest now. Absolute brilliant share.
On a side note The Damned United is one of the best biopics of all time IMO. Michael Sheen’s portrayal of Clough is brilliant and uncanny. Plus it makes you want to hate Leeds even more for the way the club, the players and the fans treated him. I’m eagerly looking forward to the sequel The Damned United 2: The Paul Heckingbottom Story. To be fair that will be more of a comedy than a drama.
Oh to be young - whilst I was watching 4th division football under Jim Iley you could go home to Match of the Day and watch Alan Hinton in his white boots ploughing through the mud in the old Baseball ground
The Damned United was on telly only a couple of weeks ago. First time I've ever seen it. It was very good - really enjoyed it. It gave a very good insight as well into just how important Peter Taylor was in the setup and the success they achieved.
