Second half performance with 10 men was astonishing. Fitness and work rate as good as I've seen, as good as our last team that were promoted from this division. And Woodrow's goal was Premier league class.
I feared the worst when we went down to 10 men and thought we’d be lucky to come away with a point. It was perfect second half performance though. 10 men no problem. Dougall, Mowatt and McGeehan did the work of 5 men in the middle and didn’t give Southend a moments rest. Pinnock and Lindsay didn’t lose a header all game. Southend may as well have kicked their corners straight out for goal kick because they were getting no change out of our centre halves. We also looked incredibly dangerous every time we went forwards. I was impressed with Green when he came on and I think he can slot in on the right hand side for the next three games. Some clinical finishes too. If Woodrow is given the chances he’s going to put them away.
Thought first half we overplayed a bit and kept losing unnecessary possession . After we went to ten men we seemed to manage the game better. The only time Southend had the ball was when we gave em it . Never felt threatened all match tbh but second half ten men were immense.
we were superb today. I was well chuffed for Green, he looks a good talent from the little I have seen of him so far. Took his goal well, that should hugely boost his confidence too.
Thought the defence were outstanding today. Never in trouble, But what the hell was Cavare doing to concede that late corner the wassack.
Right place at right time, Clarky, rush, shearer and linekar made careers out of it. If he has that in him and keeps getting tap ins, then bring it on.!!
Ha Ha, my son said what the hell is he doing giving that away, I laughed and said it's genius he's given a corner so they'll pile forewards and we'll hit em on the brek. Talk about true words spoken in jest. And in other news I'm going to win the euro lottery on Tuesday.
