.....the Channel 4 programme about the Falconio murder/disappearance in Australia 20years ago? Part 3 tonight. There's something odd about the whole case but difficult to actually identify what it is !
I’m watching the last episode now mate, 3 and 4 are available to download, it certainly makes out that they’ve jailed an innocent man.
Yes, it’s a really interesting watch. Joanne Lees is definitely hiding the truth for sure. The convicted guy would appear to be innocent but just how did his blood end up on her shirt???
I wondered about the blood on the shirt. I agree Joanne Lee is not being straight with the cops - and I don't think they've ever found the boyfriends body?
No, his body has never been found. The car that lorry driver saw with three people by it further back down the road had something to do with it I reckon. Can’t understand why the lorry driver never brought it up when interviewed at the time. Strange case all round....
Just watched it all. Not enough to sway me to anything other than the guilty version the jury found I thought they were going to come up with some different theories. I'm not surprised Joanne Lees and her family dust want to ge involved and have it all dragged up again. Must have been absolutely terrifying.
Seen this advertised and fancied watching it but missed episode 1 which was on Sunday I believe? Is it worth watching on demand?
Great watching. Im amazed the circumstantial evidence was enough to convict this guy of murder. As a lay man observer there are so many questions about the girls evidence. I cant wait to watch the last episode hence skipping thru the thread.
what did it for the convicted guy was his demeanour - unfortunately for him he looks like a guy capable of actually doing what he was charged with. If he was a slim guy in a suit we'd probably think him to be innocent!
The appeals process has been exhausted. The jury looked at the evidence and found him guilty. Those defence guys didn't really come up with much to exonerate him either imo.
Nothing new in the documentary, Miss Lees body language isn't good and raises questions. Not enough to overturn the jury decision but police practices not great. Only things that leap out at me that raise some alarms are the lack of blood at the scene for a gun shot and the very small amount of DNA. The scenario / re-enactment from Miss Lees statemente was pretty solid and I'd have expected more transfer like the exercise proved. The Daniel Morgan documentary starts on Monday. Now that is a vipers net of a case. The Met will be bracing themselves for that again, expect the 30+ years is a long time and we acknowledge we had issues but we're clean now line.
I don't think Murdoch or Lees did it. It seems because she didn't grieve much it's not a good sign. Yet we've seen the likes of Karen Matthews and Mick Phillpot crying hysterically on camera and they were guilty. Murdoch was 4 inches taller than what the CCTV guy supposedly was and has no reason to still say he's innocent two decades later.
Massive mystery still. Surprised the sighting of him was not took seriously strange outcome and still many questions unanswered
I watched all four episodes. The DNA evidence that finally convicted Murdoch is telling, but I feel a certain unease around Ms Lee's patchy account of events and the insistence of the former store owner, who is absolutely certain that Falconio came into the store after he had been reported "missing" and bought a can of pop and a Mars bar. Still possible that he faked his own death to claim the insurance, but surely Ms Lee's would have been contacted to pick up where they had left off, wherever he finally settled. At the end of the day, you have to go with the evidence, which seems to suggest Murdoch killed him and buried his body " somewhere" in the bush.
All good evidence that the jury chose to ignore. The whole case seemed to finally rest on Murdochs DNA on Ms Lee's t-shirt. If the two had never met, how did it get there.?
