do not have sky so having to watch it on S4C (Wales) the commentary is in Welsh. It's high time the minister for sport intervened and get the home nations internationals broadcast on standard TV. Sky have monopolised this for way too long. They can keep the domestics to themselved for me. But all should be able to see their national side, and not have to robbed by the Sky bastads. The amount of sky subsribers in the UK is a very minimal amount just 12.5 million in a population of almost 67 million.

no RH. lived in Wales for 26 years though. Met my wife in the RAF 46 years ago. Both my parents are gone now and Have very little family in Hoyland now. My wifes family is quite large so it made sense to come down here when I left the RAF in 1995. Carried on working for the RAF as an MoD aircraft technician.

I'm watching on S4c too. Just wondered why they say slow motion when presumably there must be welsh words for them?

You can see your national team. On the national broadcaster! What you’ve just asked for is exactly what’s happening!

Motion is an old French word, originally from Latin (movere/motio - to move) and Slow is an old Germanic word (slaw - slow witted/thick). Just wondering why we say slow motion when presumably there must be English words for then? :)

All languages borrow words, some change them into their own. Others just carry on using the "loan words".

the Welsh word for (microwave) oven is Popty -- the ping is the ping!

Pobi = to bake / Ty = house -- Popty = bakehouse/oven. And 'ping' is well 'ping' - so there you have it!
