.. I have a friend (mid 30s) who has flu and cold type symptoms including a temperature around 100 F who is convinced he doesn't have Corona virus but is self-isolating anyway However my question related to the fact he is taking medicines and steps to reduce his fever symptoms.
Now I always understood fever is not caused by viruses but is one of the body's defence mechanisms for the i.e.create a hostile environment for the 'invader' and weaken it for the anti-bodies or even kill it. Elevated body temperatures are therefore OK unless they reach in excess of 103F degrees and in fact may help accelerate recovery as the body's defences are doing their job.
Is he better to let nature take its course and only intervene if the temperature start to creep above 102F or am I talking ******!?

Paracetamol is usually recommended in these circumstances.

Sorry I'm not a medic just to make it clear.
