You're in for a treat! If you're there early you've obviously got Wetherspoons but better than that there's The Bob Inn which is a micropub made of 2 market stalls, open from 10am - Steve the landlord is a good lad! Just a little bit around the corner is Chapel Street with The Crown which always has 4/ 5 ales, Pearson's is at the bottom of Chapel St on Market St and has 3/ 4 ales (recent local CAMRA pub of the season), also on Market St there's the White Bull with 4/ 5 ales and a new micropub is down there somewhere but I haven't been there yet. Back to Chapel St, there's a new micropub called the Ale Station, I've only been in once, beer was good, more expensive than you'd usually pay in a micropub and the staff were a bit overdressed, a bit too posh to be a real ale house! The best of the best is Shepherd's Hall Ale House on Chapel Street near the bus and train stations, they won CAMRA pub of the year for the region last year & will more than likely win it this year as well! 5 ales on constant rotation and 3 ciders all priced around £2.50 a pint!
