    He once bought me a Gin and Tonic in The Ritz. Yes he did for a laugh, ahaha.

    Actually he didn't, but even though I'm obviously way too young, that song, became a bit of a cult thing for me and my sister. RIP Peter Sarstedt.

    Another funny thing about him is that, at the time, it never occurred to me that he was of Indian descent. He was born in Delhi apparently. Same with Freddie Mercury - I never thought of him having Asian blood either (born of Parsi descent, grew up in Zanzibar and India).

    Mind you, I never thought of Shirley Bassey being of mixed race until recently! Maybe it's just that years ago we never really noticed these things. They were just singers.

    Or it might just be me :)
