Been reading up about it and I suspect it'll be crap. Sounds like there will be full blown sex scenes in it! One nob to lull them all One bonk to fool them One boob to tease them all And on the box entice them There is no sex in middle earth!! I don't think ill be watching
Regarding the film trilogy and a remake (or 're-imagining' as the spin department like to call them now) my view is 'if it 'aint broke - don't fix it'. Whilst the CGI is s tiny bit creaky here and there (and who thought the rear shots of Hobbits using children disguised as Frodo and Bilbo looked like anything other than children disguised as Hobbits!), and also the final ending in the last film (The Return of the King) of the Trilogy seemed interminable (in fact it seemed to end several times in a number of scenes) it is still a cinematic marvel. Serkis's Gollum will be extraordinarily difficult to best' The cast and budget, not to mention the time spent on it suggest that Amazon, in spite of CGI advance is unlikely to improve on the original film. The Hobbit was a disappointment as strangely, all the LOTR books were covered in three, albeit long, films. The Hobbit (Prequel?) made after the LOTR was one quite short book and they took three films padding it out and bizarrely adding Orlando Bloom's Legolas character for no reason other than he was a box office draw. Amazon should have left it alone and looked to make something new and original.
I think a lot of it is an analogy to the Industrial Revolution decline in rural life, mechanisation, move to overcrowded towns, division of Labour and subsequent decline in life quality for the masses.
I believe that's the case. It will be focused on events in the age prior to LOTR by all accounts. So most characters from the films wont be in. However I think Sauron will be in and possibly a young Gandalf. No doubt young Gandalf had a square jaw, great abs and a big lunchbox. As I say, it sounds crap at the moment....
I think I read somewhere it is going to be the most expensive TV show ever made, so hopefully it won't be a flop.
I wonder if any of these will find their way into it?....I know its old but it still makes me laugh...
