Come on man, everywhere from your standard cafe to your wanky artisan bistro have been plugging Americano's and the like for years. Nowhere is going to offer instant coffee on the menu now. You're not telling me you've only just caught up? And tbf, if you ask for just a coffee most places will give you filter coffee, which is usually cheaper than the rest of the menu and as close to instant as you'll get (but miles better)

Best coffee I've ever had in this country was in a little Italian Cafe in the middle of Covent Garden Market.

Coffee just tastes better in Italy. I don't know what it is they do differently, but you can turn up in some ramshackle bar in the back of beyond, they serve you an espresso, and it tastes better than anything you ever find in the UK costing 3 times as much.

Similar experience in New Zealand and Australia, although prices are higher there.
