Yet again we gave the other team a one goal start. There's that line about twice might be a coincidence, but thrice..... Anyway, we were the better footballing team today, and that traditionally means... we lose. We lose these games because the other side has more threatening, better finishers. Or more accurately, because we don't have such finishers. However today we lost cos we sleepwalked onto the pitch, cos Victor didn't sort his his bonce out, and cos we need more talent up front. Not too depressed though.
A defeat was almost as inevitable as ones usually are at Loftus Road and Hillsborough but we were not two goals worse off today, performance wise I mean. Neither side could get the ball down and play but they just got lucky in the box, twice. One glaring point for me though was the weaknesses up front, both before the substitutions and after. We looked marginally stronger before the three went off, but not by much.
I think the state of the pitch was a major factor and that we would have played much more effectively if there was a good passing surface. Both teams were forced to use Wycombe tactics as it was almost impossible to play the ball on the ground. Having said that we did have an off day and the lack of a good striker showed up. Victor should have scored though
I think 2-0 was a fair reflection of the game. We never looked like scoring, and while the two goals were bad ones to give away, they looked more dangerous when they had the ball in our half.
Spot on, missed Styles too. We stayed competitive and in the game throughout which is a big sign of our progression.
