£311,935 paid by Barnsley, third lowest in the Championship. Not surprisingly the three promoted clubs paid the least in fees. Stoke topped the list with £5,683,904. http://www.thefa.com/news/2020/jun/24/intermediary-transactions-and-fees-published-2406
That's a fun couple of spreadsheets! I love that there's a company out there representing players which is called World in Motion.
A few things of note Liverpool paid agents over £30m and asked the tax payer to pay their kit man's wages! League 1. Sunderland spent over a third if the league's entire total To sign Liam Lindsay Stoke had to pay pro lg ltd and also made a payment to Liam's dad. The fa have once again shown their incompetence by publishing a document for all to see which has the word confidential stamped across it in big letters.
Simple answer to this. make the players pay them out of there own money, ensuring you don’t give extra to that player in the first place. Ive no problem players taking advice but make them not clubs pay for it!
Agreed... but doubt an agent would agree just like a solicitor... Each case is different... Workload wise
Agent “We’ll hold out for megabucks. Player. “Do you really think I’m worth that much” Agent “Oh yes.” Player “But more than £10k a week offered” Agent “Oh yes” Player “ Seasons underway. Wtf is happening I’m £100k out of pocket” Agent “don’t worry someone will be along shortly.” Player “ wtf I’m signing for that bag o ***** for £5k. A week. and I’ve lost out on £150k. Agent “ market forces son clubs are losing money.” Player “B’stard” Chairman “ Thanks mr agent. For getting that one through the door” Agent “ Cheers mate no problem” Chairman “ Here’s that Brown envelope.” Not all, but some.
I was just going to post basically what Pompey_Red said. Why do clubs pay? Surely to god the agent should sell his services to the player for a one off fee or a percentage of his wage?
One way or another the club pays though. If for example the player has to pay the agent £1m when he's sold that agent will just say to the buying club 'ok so you're offering my player a £1.2m signing on fee but he won't sign for that because it only leaves him with 200k. If you make his signing on fee £2.2m he will sign.
