I was glad in the summer when he didn’t re-sign for us. He had more than enough chances with us. He is doing well this season though, all credit to him. Hopefully he’ll be the Victor we all know next Saturday.
I wouldn't have minded him at this level. I actually think his all round game came on a fair bit last season, in an otherwise disappointing season. But I wasn't too upset when he didn't sign either. Sometimes it just clicks for some players at certain clubs. Look at Jerry Yates at Blackpool. Had several runs in Rotherham's team without looking like nailing down a regular place despite scoring regularly out on loan. Went to Blackpool, scored 21 goals in his first season winning their player of the year, and currently has 9 championship goals this season. Its a far cry from the 2 in nearly 50 games he got for Rotherham.
His game came on a little bit but I still thought he was well short. First touch was still bouncing off him and his movement in the box was never there. I do agree though, and said it at the time, fresh start was probably needed on both sides. I wish him well, just not next Saturday.
Got a lot of criticism on here re his goal stats. Whist Woodrow got off lightly. People making excuses. The amount of game time (rather than games played) was massively different between the 2. I wasnt disappointed he left. I certainly didnt expect him to be among the top scorers in the league. But wish him all the best (except against us) I would liked to have kept Woodrow btw as he had quality on the ball and could have played behind 2 main strikers.
