While I agree it turned out that was the right call I wouldn't say this is evidence of anything other than his falling out with the manager. Transfer window would mean he could only go on loan outside of the EFL. Could well still have something to offer at league one level.
Have my doubts on that, struggled to make impact last time with us. He's a couple of years older now too.
One of my favourite ever barnsley players and there should never be anything negative about him on here and we should all hope his future is successful.
I see your point but the romantic in me believes there’s a last hurrah left in him yet at his spiritual home. Old head, club legend, with excess passion to compensate for his ageing legs, his very presence would give the whole place the massive lift we clearly need. Remember last time he turned up in the last chance saloon? What’s to lose?
Think getting shut was more to do with finance and not fitting in with the new owners plans with regard to age.
Scunthorpe kept him on for this season after his half a season last year. He may not be at the level he was when we went up with him in the team anymore. But he could well still be capable of playing at league one level. Sounds more like the old attitude problems have come back though which has led to him been left out and presumably going out on loan until Jan when he can move to another league one or Two club.
Neither does not being able to play at a decent standard anymore. Not being funny but anyone suggesting that he can still do a job in the Championship (even at the lower end) is missing a large portion of their brain. He couldn't even cut it in League One. Best he'll hope for is maybe a League Two team.
