Would be delighted if we signed him in January or next summer. We love a player from Wycombe... Could do with a 4th first team central defender and he'd be ideal. And besides I wouldn't be surprised if Roberts was linked with a move away soon, so signing Pierre would reduce our need to sell so we could push the price up hopefully
Can guarantee we won't sell Roberts unless it's for a ridiculous price, why would we sell our best CB?
We need to wait and see how McDonald and Jackson work out yet, no point jumping the gun going after another one already
Yer don't want no more lower league players like Mawson, roberts,Connor, josh scowern ect ect boooooo Puts it into perspective when blackburn have signed wes brown..... think I'd rather us take a chance on a lower league player.
What would you suggest we do then? Sign Clark or Duffy for 5+ million every time on 20k+ a week wages
Of course we don't want to, but if we make sure we've got good reserve centre backs, if someone comes in with a big offer, it's less of a worry. Like with Mawson; he was in a similar situation, but we've recruited well and not done badly since he left
Yer your right let's go back to signing ex premiership has beens/never beens what's leroy up to. If we had that attitude last season we would never won promotion.
Ok wind back and show me where I said that, what I'm going back to is that as the season goes on a bit of experience/nous/steel at this level is going to be needed.
And how do we get that these days? By cast offs or folking out ridiculous amounts. Not gunna happen. This current format we have is working, why change it?
To recruit experience/nous/steel at this level you need plenty of money look at how much teams like derby/Brighton/wednesday are paying for this experience and not just in transfer fees in wages.
Surely as the season goes on this squad will in itself get more championship experience. I would say after about 23 games this squad will know what it takes to play every club in this league. If we jack in our current recruitment policy and start signing over the hill premier league rejects and journeymen then I will be very close to chalking **** on it. What we are doing at the moment has restored my faith in football and especially in our club.
I think Roberts will be here till the club decide to get rid of him unless he has a truly stand out season. He's 26 now and often the bigger clubs are searching for the younger lot like Mawson who are better ball players which Robbo isn't great at. But who knows we'd be silly to turn down a ridiculous offer for him despite how much I love him. As for the reserve CB's we need to give them at least a season of alternation to find out which one is better in which role and who can do what so I think we'd be abit scuppered to get rid of Roberts any earlier than 2018
I think he's been on the list for a few years. We'll probably sign him regardless of whether we've got a pressing need in that position.
