www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-lancashire-57083921.amp I cancelled rugby training last night. I don’t usually, But we have quite a few out injured and knowing a few wouldn’t turn up due to rain it wasn’t worth it. I’m sure some will say they should have cancelled it. I usually tell em it’s only a bit of rain we’re not cancelling. But my lot are U16s.
I think it was a one to one private coaching session, not general team training. I help coach under 10s and rain, hail or snow we usually train, but I would always cancel for thunder and lightning.
It's a real sickener. Can't get out of my head what the family must be going through. It's a different type of grief I should imagine. I felt numb when I heard and I've no connection whatsoever.
I know what you mean. Horrendous, especially for his family and the poor individual responsible for the coaching. I can't imagine having to live with something like that.
Heartbreaking. He’d recently ran 30 miles to raise money for a mental health charity. Dreadfully sad.
Poor mite. Its one of those " if only " occurrences, it was an accident but you'd just want to turn the clock back and say don't go out. RIP little man, it sounds as though he'd been a treasure during his way too short a life. My heart breaks for his family and friends.
It certainly puts this better fan nonsense into some perspective.. Along with the dead Palestinian children.
Last summer we were training in Hillsborough Park and there was a huge storm, very close by. (A house very close by was struck) We (all adults) retreated to our cars. The boys’ junior football team and parents on the sidelines stayed out. I couldn’t believe that a coach would continue training in those circumstances. I’m not apportioning blame in this young boy’s case. However, at the time I did report the continuation of training at Hillsborough Park. I just thought it was absolute madness.
Its a really tragic accident - no one to blame just another case of how unfair life is his parents and the rugby coach will be devastated and probably never fully recover - my heart goes out to them
What an absolute tragedy. Sincere condolences to the child's family and friends. I have no idea what they must be feeling right now
Heartbreaking. As a young’un we were generally told not to wave fishing rods around or stand under trees during lightning storms and you’d be alright. RIP
