Who had a 100% record before kick off. I thought Barnsley were much the better team team in the first half with some crisp, clean passing, playing at a much higher tempo than at any time in the league games so far. After conceeding two quick, but sloppy, goals at the start of the second, Bristol City took control. How anyone can claim the disgusting, late challenge on Sollbauer was fair is beyond me. Just as disgusting was the decision by the referee not to send the dirty git off. Congratulations to Cauley for keeping a clear head for as long as he did, before dispatching the penalty so well. Well done to the lads for sticking to their task and earning, in my opinion, a deserved point. All that matters, though, is how badly injured Michael Sollbauer is and how quickly he can recover.
Both their goals were deflections. A bit of fortune goes with that. It was a penalty but no more than that. Get out of jail card for us. Otherwise, same as usual - start brightly then the opposition show a greater goal threat. Can't see this changing.
Good summary, with which I agree. My concern today though, was the same as it has been for a longtime; the decision making in the final third: shooting when we should pass, passing when we should shoot, lack of quality with the final ball, lack of quality with the shots, giving the ball away too easily, trying to walk it into the net, etc. As long as we keep making chances, then I think we will be OK. We just need to dramatically improve our conversion rate.
Terrible post BigLil. Conway, Lee. Dane, Murray, the team, the tactics, incomings, outgoings. You haven't even bothered to slate at least one of these. Is this your first time posting on here man ?!?!?!
Well deserved point. Agree with Pulis on Sky Sports " Barnsley worked very hard and were worthy of their point." https://www.skysports.com/watch/vid...s/barnsley/12106763/barnsley-2-2-bristol-city
Those two deflected goals may have been on target but anything could have happened so although they had the second half there was a touch of luck involved. We need to rest a couple of regulars now, we all will have our opinions who. We have alternatives Kane was a bit of a revelation. We do need a permanent manager soon. What happened to guggen press lol
Sums up what I saw lil. Although a bit of luck involved as well as gung ho defending both their goals. 2 deflections. ( Anders for the 1st, Williams for the second. ) then we were panicking for 10/15 minutes before regaining composure. Thomas’s forward play was good but his final ball today was very poor. But we were more than deserving of of a point on the first half performance. Just wish we’d gior playing that stupid goal kick routine. Opposing clubs have it sussed to a T.
A favourite of mine is...(insert any players name) Is absolutely garbage...until we sell them and then the board don’t know what they’re doing
It really was a terrific penalty, I was worried he'd missed at first but it was a perfect roof of the net effort. It meant I again, with a big shout of "GET THE **** IN", startled the clientele of the same pub in Leicester where I saw Wooders grab a last gasp equaliser against City last season
Fine summary Lil, first and foremost hope Solly is OK. We will miss him for a couple of weeks at least. He was moving his arms as he was being carried off so hopefully it isn't a bad one. Certainly hope it isn't as bad a Moore's a couple of years ago. We did look a lot better as you say first half, but still lacked a bit of creativity in the final third, especially 2nd half when we went behind to two deflected goals. The penalty was stone wall, there was no doubt about it. How the ref doesn't give a straight red I will never know. Special mention to Herbie Kane, who looked good when he came on, spraying the ball about like a young Jan Molby. I certainly can see the green shoots of recovery. We've got games thick and fast now, so fringe players were always going to get a game. More so now. Onwards and Upwards, YOU REDS
Apart from the first 20 minutes of the 2nd half, Bristol were barely a threat and we defended well against the league leaders only being scuppered by one decent effort which needed a deflection to beat Walton and one "piece of good fortune" which barely merits the word effort. I agree that our final passes or goal attempts were mostly poor but given just a fair share of luck today we would have won. I'm happy with that.
