And there were only 24 in the previous 100 years since 1900!

And there is very little sign that stability will be forthcoming any time soon. I wish Gerhard Struber well, but there are worrying parallels with the Morais appointment. Gerhard comes in with a new coaching staff and inherits a squad that looks short of the depth and experience required to avoid relegation. There are few signs that the squad will be enhanced in January, and if anything a departure of players like Woodrow and possibly Mowatt looks the more likely prospect. It seems that survival in the Championship is the main (only?) aim - so if that is not achieved will the axe be waved as ruthlessly as it was with Morais?

The annoying thing is it was so positive this time last year. I didnt expect Daniel to be here forever but I liked his style and the talk was of that continuing through the club and becoming " our thing" Now without mentioning Daniel's name the new coach/manager suggests he's going to carry that on so time will tell. I wonder if results improve between now and Jan whether the board will finally see the merit in buying in some more experienced players? I've a feeling that if they dont we definitely wont waste money on championship players.

Surely as Struber has been the target for a while he will be here for at least this season and next season. If the owners are realistic about survival they will hang on to their prize assets until June. Mowatt and Woodrow are on long term contracts so the clock is not really ticking. If we do go down I would expect them both to go. If we stay up it will be partly because Woodrow has added significantly to his tally of goals and will be sold in the summer for a record fee ( for us).

Depends if there is a relegation clause that makes it even cheaper to sack him, like with Morais.

Mowatts contract runs out at the end of the season with a year option. Woodrows contract has 2.5 years to run. I can't see him signing another, so the prime time to sell him is this window or the next. He won't be worth as much in League 1, so if we get an offer the owners deem enough, I think its nailed on he's gone. That he's scored so many for a struggling team at a good age, he'll be most definitely on shopping lists, as will Mowatt with the amount of assists he's been involved in.

We don't value what we have, only who we can convince to get on the conveyor belt.

Problem is Helen, surely if the results improve they don’t need to buy experience?
Personally I think they do, I don’t think they will sell the likes of Woodrow etc but maybe some fringe players and hope they sign a couple

I suppose my thinking is that from their point of view theres no point in chucking good money after bad if we're still at the bottom come January. However, if we do start winning then financially it would be worth backing him.

If we can get to 20 points by boxing day. They'll spend some money.

24 in the last 19 years just goes to show hard it is to find the right person to compete in the modern football arena driven by TV revenue.

Gloomy outlook but I suspect very true. Think these owners have overstayed their welcome, high probably they’ll take us back decades then sell us on after they have sold on anyone of value according to their ‘plan’ the way it’s shaping up.

We only had 1 who lasted more than 2 years - Simon Davey though Hecky was only a day short of 2 years

It seems most these days do well to last much more than a year so best guess is Struber will either go at the end of the season or before Xmas next year. The chances of him seeing out his 3 year contract are very slim indeed as the last manager we had who lasted a full 3 years was Danny Wilson appointed in 1994 - and in fact he managed to stay for a full 4 years before choosing to leave.

Most likely is Struber will go because the club are not doing well enough - but if he can keep us up this season and get us climbing the table next he will be a very tempting prospect for bigger sides in the Championship and I would think we would stuggle to hang on to him. Only way I can see him being here in 2 years is if we are narrowly relegated this year but he does enough to be given a chance next season and then he brings us straight back up.

pretty sure average championship manager lasts less than or around 2 years in general.
Lee Johnson is actually the longest serving currently in the Championship.
Followed by Mowbray, Cook and Neil
