In short, it was about a tourist in a foreign town (I always imagine Marakesh) meeting a local beauty and missing the next leg of his journey.

Got to see him 50 odd years ago in Clacton. I went out and bought ‘Love Chronicles’ after. His best album in my opinion. Happy birthday mate.

I saw Al Stewart around 50 years ago and I totally understand you buying "Love Chronicles". At a time when 4-5 minutes on an LP was considered a longish track he produced a song (title track) which was (18 minutes ?) long and had 3 or 4 different melodies in it.
    Great talent.

Thank you for that. Really enjoyed it. I'm at my house in Spain just now so really enjoyed the Spanish guitar. Sat out side, 1:30 a.m. 23 degrees, "you can't whack it"......

    Past, Present and Future. Genius.
Waterboys and Mike Scott were quite fond of it too, hence Red Army Blues on A Pagan Place, Roads to Moscow re mix.

Year of the Cat is one of my funeral tracks, along with:

    Peaceful - Georgie Fame

    and

    McArthur Park - Richard Harris.

BBC Radio 2 plays only 3 of Al's catalogue:

This one - On the Border
    Time Passages
    and Year of the Cat
