Ex footballers scammed

Yes they were forging signatures on documents ( not as if anyone involved in Barnsley FC would do such a thing !!!) some related to property portfolios when the firm had inflated the value of the properties, the investors have to pay tax based on the inflated values which has knackered some of them .

 

They did put a blank on the original signature and held it on a window so the signature would show through. Then just followed the signature.simples.

 

That was just showing how it could be done. Proving it is different. Surely criminal proceedongs would have followed if that is proven. They didnt so I am assuming it was not proven.

 

It was verified by a hand writing expert, to be honest, some of the forgeries were so bad anyone could have spotted it.

 

It’s proving who forged them and who knew , given these cases take years to get to court and large sums of money involved in prosecution, there’s a high bar to pass for them to take things forward

 

People buying up houses and renting them are, well, not my favourite people.

 

There were absolutely loads of people caught by this film scheme.

I know a few of these people involved and they are far from dim or deserving of this.

They’re decent hard working people who reached the top of their game (due to said hard work) and trusted their advisors . Some well respected accountants were pushing the film scheme at the time too.

it’s a bad look to have no sympathy for people just because they’ve been successful imho and perpetuates the idea that it’s perfectly ok to defraud them.

If anyone wants to pay me what these footballers get paid, I’d be happy to pay PAYE.

 

They do pay PAYE mate. And contribute enormously to the taxation system.

 

Having watched the programme I think they know it's a hard sell sympathy for pro footballers where finances are concerned. I started watching probably from that stand piont but these people who aswell as bad advice also with the property dealings was a outright scam. These people they thought of as friends going on family holidays and attending their weddings while doing the opposite to what friends would do. The majority of these men are from working class backgrounds who are given wealth beyond anything those families have ever seen. When people come along who people they trust endorse say don't worry we will take care of your money they unfortunately did. Always thought Wilkinson was a piece of work and if only half of what's alledged is true this confirms it.
